What is a herdshare?

In the State of Ohio, in order to get fresh raw milk straight from the dairy, you need to be a member of a Herd Share Program. In a Herd Share Program, you purchase a share of the herd. Since you then own a share or the herd you are able to get milk from that share. After the initial purchase, there is a monthly boarding fee. The monthly fee is for caring for…feed, water, milking, of your share of the herd.

How do I become a member of your herdshare program?

It’s simple! It’s just a matter of filling out the paperwork. Contact us to set up a time to come visit the farm and we can walk you through it. If you can’t make it to the farm, we can send it to you!

Can I buy raw milk?

Raw milk is only available by becoming a member of a herd share program.

In the State of Ohio, you cannot purchase raw milk right off the shelf or the farm.

What happens if I can't pick up my milk?

If you let us know ahead of time, we won’t fill your order and you can make up what you missed at a later date.

If you are picking up at Bair-Trax and you just can’t make it out on your scheduled day, we’ll move your milk over the “late” milk side of the fridge. You’ll see you’re not alone!

Do I have to pick my herdshare milk up at the farm?

No! We have pick up locations in and around Dayton and Cincinnati.

How do I increase/decrease my shares?

Once you are a herd share member you can easily increase your shares, by purchasing an additional share.

If you discover that your milk consumption is decreasing, and you’d like to decrease your share, contact us to let us know and we can make the needed adjustments.

What happens if I move?

If you are moving somewhere close to one the pick-up locations, you are welcome to change location. Moving farther away? We can cancel your shares.

Are your cows A2A2?

Though we have not tested for the A2A2 gene, we have been breeding for the A2A2 gene for the last 8 years. The A2A2 gene is a dominant gene, so we are confident that any of our cows 8 years old and younger are A2A2.

What breed are your cows?

Jerseys of course! We love our Jerseys! And the rich cream they produce in their milk. It makes for delicious health milk.

Are your cows grass fed?

Yes. Our cows are Certified Organic and rotationally grazed through our 212 acres of pastures.

We supplement in the winter with dry hay and wet/fermented hay when they can’t get outside to graze.

We also supplement with a Certified Organic, Non-GMO and Soy Free Feed. All grains are grown on the farm.

Can other products be ordered and delivered with my herdshare milk?

Yes! We have a wide array of products that can be order and delivered with your herd share milk.

We have other raw dairy products: Butter, Cream, Cheese and Yogurt.

We also have beef, chicken, eggs and honey available.
